Science tells us that everything in this universe is made up of energy. Our energy points, energetic layers, and subtle bodies, The subtle body is considered to be the various energetic layers that make up a human being beyond physicality which create an interconnected field of energy around the physical body and make up what is commonly known as the auric field. Each subtle body connects with the physical body via an energy point—or chakra— which directs energy into the physical body via the meridian system in areas of your life.
We are born with a beautiful clear aura (energy field), but over time it becomes cluttered with everything that we experience in life, such as our parental figures, upbringing, school, work, love life, environment, and general habits. Over time, our aura can become overwhelmed with stress, heaviness, worry, trauma, anxiety, and negative experiences. These create energetic blocks, which in turn create blocks in our vibrations or frequency. Energy healing works with the body’s energy systems to facilitate or enhance its natural ability to heal. If not fully resolved, trauma, stress, limiting or false belief systems, emotional or physical distress, and other blocks to our well-being are often stored in the energy fields of our bodies. The blocks can hinder our ability to heal physically, mentally, and emotionally, and prevent us from fully experiencing our divine potential: love, joy, peace, and abundance.

What Are The 7 Chakras and How Can You Unblock Them?
“Chakra” is a Sanskrit word that refers to the energy points in the body. There are seven main chakras that run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, each with its own function:
Root Chakra
Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra represents your foundation. It keeps you grounded and in touch with the Earth and helps you to face challenges confidently. The root chakra is necessary to move through life with steady strength. It is connected to your roots and family as well as your life purpose, career, and finances.
Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra is located just below your belly button. The function of this deeply personal chakra is to regulate your sexual and creative energy and help you express your emotions. It determines our relationships and how it functions is usually based on your relationship with your parents. This area is also connected with your hormonal functions and can be used to heal PMS pain, infertility, and balance your feminine/masculine powers.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Just below the rib cage above the stomach is where you’ll find the solar plexus chakra. This third chakra controls many of your most intrinsic qualities, such as self-confidence, self-discipline, and wisdom. It’s responsible for the “gut feeling” in the pit of your stomach. If you’ve ever felt good or uncertain about something without any explanation, that was the work of your solar plexus chakra. This area is connected to your stomach and digestive system and stores anxiety and stress. The chakra affects how someone can connect with their own leadership qualities, take control of situations, achieve what they desire in life, and manage various emotions.
Heart Chakra
As the name suggests, this chakra is located near your heart (though in the center of your chest, not where the actual heart is) and is responsible for your ability to show and receive love and compassion. It also influences your mood and mental health. The heart chakra is connected to the cardiovascular area and affects our heart functions and thymus gland (part of the immune system). Since we store emotions in the heart (figuratively speaking), many people carry their burdens and emotional baggage in their backs, which then creates chronic back pain.
Throat Chakra
The fifth chakra located within your throat helps you communicate verbally. When it's working properly, it enables you to express your ideas honestly and effectively. This is an important area when it comes to sharing your truth, and it is a link to your heart chakra because it helps you communicate what you feel. The throat chakra is connected to the thyroid gland and plays a major role in the metabolism, growth, and development of the human body.
Third Eye Chakra
No doubt you’ve heard of this one before. Its Sanskrit definition loosely translates to “beyond wisdom.” The third eye chakra, which is located on the forehead between the eyes, is responsible for intuition and gathers information about the world. From within, it explores truths that aren’t obvious or concrete. The third eye chakra helps your ability to see the bigger picture and connect to your intuition.
Crown Chakra
The crown chakra is the highest one, sitting at the top of the head. It’s almost impossible for humans to fully open, but when it is, you’ll be able to access a higher consciousness. This chakra controls your spiritual energy and your connection to yourself, others, and the universe. A balanced crown chakra also helps you find your life’s purpose. However, when you have a long to-do list and are consumed by everyday thoughts and worries, the crown chakra can become clogged, which limits your ability to realize your higher purpose and full potential in life.
What happens when a chakra is closed (unbalanced)?
Your chakras must be open and balanced for optimal operation. Open chakras allow energy to flow freely, creating harmony between the mind, body, and spirit. When one of your chakras is closed, the traits or emotions it controls become unsteady. The energy field around it gets clogged and is unable to function properly. This can cause negative emotions, a feeling of helplessness, negative self-image, or difficulty connecting with others or your inner self. It can also create various health challenges that doctors are unable to find a root cause for. Illnesses such as cancers and tumors, as well as anxiety and depression, may stem from blocked chakras so balancing and healing them can have many physical health benefits.

It’s important for your health to heal your chakras. You can do this through meditation and targeted yoga, both of which help you find inner peace and give you space to heal.
